Talaash: The answer lies Within

Friday Night is generally a time when I usually explore creativity and stupidity of the entertainment world.
Yesterday night I went to watch the movie of a man who epitomizes craft and perfection in his movie .. the perfectionist Aamir Khan. Talaash a movie billed up as a crime thriller and a movie from Aamir after a long time.

The movie starts with accident of a film star whose car is bumped off deep into sea. What seems to be a clear cut accident, later turns out to be outcome of a blackmailing story. The main protagonist  Sarjan Shekhwat(Aamir) i.e. The man who never sleeps,  is troubled by accidental death of his only son and his 12 year old marriage life. He always thinks of what if situations that might have used to save his child's life, he has lost interest in his personal life and his ever beautiful wife Roshni (Rani Mukherjee).

Second half with all the ingredients of what seems to be a edge of seat thriller begins with Tehmur blackmailing friend of dead movie star Armaan Kapoor,he  threatens to hand over a 3 year old video recording and telling the truth of a prostitute being killed to police. The audience here are in for a twist thinking the hand of the friend in star's murder. Friend agrees to pay the money but as you know also sends men to kill Tehmur. Incidents lead Aamir Khan in realizing that Mr. Kejriwaal ( Friend of Armaan Kapoor) is the man behind the murder mystery. In the meanwhile you have Rani Mukherjee talking to spirit for her died son with help of Frenny ( Shernaz Patel) the one who had good rapport with dead world. Then you have a confrontation between Rani and Aamir which is being executed brilliantly with Junior officer saying "Main Baad me aata hoon sir".

You think its going to be one terrific hell of ending, Aamir sees the very video in Kerjriwal's home and realizes the girl in the video is the one hooker who is giving him clue after clue and audience now think Kareena kapoor is the main killer but what happens next is far from what we have seen in Aamir Khan movie.  The girl in video was killed three years back. Aamir while taking Mr. Kejriwal to police station see Kareena in middle of the road, trying to save the already dead his jeep fells into sea likewise it did in case of actor. Then you have the spirit taking Aamir out of his jeep and subsequently out of sea.

Suddenly from an Aamir Khan Movie it becomes more of a Mahesh Bhatt horror flick where the hooker's aatma was in fact giving clue to aamir for gaining salvation or shall we say "Gainining Mukti for Her Atma".  The script becomes as if some one has drop salt in what promises to be an excellent evening tea.Movie ends with Aamir discovering body of Kareena and reading letter from his dead son.

So what Aamir want us to think, he wants us to think that unhappy spirits exists in the world, Is he serious? when we are facing serious population issues is there any place for spirits left.  A hole in the story is how can the dead kareena kapoor aka Simran can tell pimp Sashi that "Tumhe itna paseena kyun aa raha hai" when he was taking this three call girls for customer.

Still try to ignore logic as we dont have nowdays in movies of A-list actors. The bollywood comes to full circle where One Khan make us to believe that he can get into plane from Bike, the other khan make us to believe he is still 25 and now Aamir want us to believe ghosts still exists.

Still the movie is watchable because of its plot, powerful acting performances. Watch it for Nawazudding siddique who from being Faizal of Gangs of Wasseypur then IB Chief Khan of Kahaani, gives class act with Tehmur.  Kareena Kapoor with her Chameli Sequel Rosy/ Simran delivers a nice performance which makes you ignore her flashy clothes.

The music is good and so are the songs "Jiye Lage Na"and "Jee le Zara" which will be there with you once you leave the hall.

Three and Half Cheers to this Aamir's crime thriller.
